The X40 isn’t the only new device Honor announced this week for its Chinese home market. The affordable phone has been joined by an affordable tablet. It’s called Honor Pad X8, and it shouldn’t be confused with the Honor Pad 8, launched in July, or the Honor Pad X8 Lite, which surfaced on the company’s website a few days ago.
The Honor Pad X8 comes with a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 IPS touchscreen display, a yet unannounced MediaTek chipset labeled only MT8786, which features an octa-core processor with two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, 6 GB of RAM, 64 or 128 GB of storage, a 5 MP rear camera, a 2 MP front camera and a 5,100 mAh battery.
The tablet runs Android 10, which for some reason is three years old, with Honor’s Magic UI 4.0 on top. It measures 240.2 x 159 x 7.55mm and weighs 460g. It’s already on order in China, in Dawn Blue, at a special introductory price of CNY1,299 ($186 or €185 at the current exchange rate). Once the initial sale is complete, the price rises to 1,399 CNY ($200 or €200). A Mint Green option is also expected to arrive at some point in the future.
It’s unclear when or if the Honor Pad X8 will make its international debut outside of China, but if it does, we’ll be sure to let you know.
