Popular iOS video editor LumaFusion is coming to Android and ChromeOS

LumaTouch has finally brought its popular video editing app, LumaFusion, to Android and Chrome OS devices a year after an official announcement.

More than a year after the announcement of the LumaFusion would come to Android and Chromebooks, the popular video editing app is now available for download on both platforms. LumaFusion is a video editor that provides users with professional-grade editing tools on mobile devices. It is used by filmmakers, journalists and professional video producers.

LumaTouch, the app developer, first revealed in 2021 that it was working on an Android app with an expected release in 2022. During Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2022, it was revealed that LumaFusion will work with the Galaxy Tab S8 series, further confirming that the developers are still working on the Android app.

LumaFusion is defined as a nonlinear editor (NLE). This type of editing software allows editing clips or pieces of a video without a linear timeline. Other types of NLE are Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. LumaFusion was previously exclusive to iOS devices, but is now available in open beta for Android and Chromebooks through the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. The app is priced at $19.99, which is 30% off its original price of $29.99. LumaTouch revealed in its announcement that those who purchase the app in its unfinished state will get the final version at no additional cost. It should be noted that despite an initial purchase price, the application also offers in-app purchases.

With LumaFusion, users will be able to layer up to six videos and six audio tracks. LumaTouch says the exact number will be based on the user’s device. So, users can expect more powerful devices to support higher numbers. The app supports editing in multiple aspect ratios and frame rates. It also supports adding effects such as green screen. There are also several color correction tools with the ability for users to import their own cube or 3dl files.

Moreover, users can create slow motion or fast motion videos and also create multi-layered titles with different fonts and shapes. And when done, sharing is easy with the ability to choose resolution, quality, and frame rate. The LumaFusion app is approximately 32MB in size and requires a device running Android 10 or later to run.
