Is it a desk lamp? Is it a webcam? Is it a wireless charger? Is it a USB hub? The Lenovo Go Desktop Dock with Webcam is all four devices in one.
There are still a few days until the end of the year and the start of CES 2023, but Lenovo has already announced some pretty exciting products, including the Lenovo Go Desk Station with Webcam. The tech giant recently announced a handful of products launching in the US next year, including new Windows laptops, monitors, a budget Chromebook and an entry-level Android tablet.
The Lenovo Go Desk Station with Webcam won’t arrive until March, but it could be one of the best desk accessories of 2023. The device is a desk lamp but also contains a webcam, charger wireless and a USB hub, providing users with an efficient and productive desktop space.
It lacks a Thunderbolt port
From the lamp, the color temperature is adjustable. Lenovo says there are three settings to choose from – 3000K, 4500K, and 6500K – via a touch controller. The lamp arm can be raised, lowered or rotated. Although the lamp can shine on a desk or light up a room, it will come in handy when using the Lenovo Go 4K Pro Webcam. The camera features auto focus and auto framing, auto ambient light adjustment, and a maximum resolution of 4K at 30 fps. It also has an adjustable field of view.
Since it’s attached to the lamp arm, it can be turned in any direction and will serve well for those top-down tutorial videos and demos. Lenovo also put a privacy shutter to cover the webcam when not in use. At the base of the desk lamp is a 135W USB Type-C power input port, an HDMI 2.0 port for connecting an external 4K (60fps) display, two USB 3.1 Type-A (5Gb /s) and a 65W Type-C passthrough power out port for charging a laptop. There is another USB-C output port with a maximum output of 20W for charging phones and tablets. Unfortunately, there is no Thunderbolt port.
Nevertheless, the Lenovo Go Desktop Dock with Webcam has a wireless charger that can be removed from the base like half of a wing. This charger has an output power of 15W and can be used to charge supported smartphones and headphones. The Lenovo Go Desktop Station with Webcam will be available from March 2023 for $329. It might seem expensive at first glance, but it’s definitely cheaper than if someone had to buy each component, like a webcam, USB hub, and wireless charger for their phones and accessories, separately. Those who don’t want to get the whole setup can also buy just the Lenovo Upgrade to the 4K Pro webcam for $149.
