Vivo’s OriginOS 3 based on Android 13 is expected to debut in early November 2022

According to a new market analysis report from IDC, China’s smartphone market declined by 11.9% year-on-year (YoY) in 3Q2022. However, it wasn’t all bad news for all of its brands – Vivo included, which beat sister company OPPO as well as fellow typical leaders Xiaomi, Honor and Apple to retain its top spot in terms of shipments – even though they fell by 20.5% over one year.

Vivo was also, of course, able to drive the (albeit ironic) rise in foldable smartphone shipment volumes, which topped 1 million (+246%) in the same quarter. The brand’s X Fold series – its new Plus refresh included, would now be among the first in line for OriginOS 3 betas.

The two ultra-premium flexible screen devices are set to join others such as the X Note, not to mention the X80 series (its Dimensity Edition included) in the first wave of preview updates for a new software-based skin. on Android 13 presented to improve in the areas of smart home control as well as user privacy, games and artificial intelligence features.

The S15 and S15 Pro are the only non-flagship Vivo smartphones included in the preliminary OriginOS 3 beta program timeline unearthed by the popular digital chat station ahead of the official debut of the new Android version on November 8, 2022.

Vivo is also expected to unveil beta support for its subsidiary iQOO, in a way that will see its latest 10-series flagships added to this list. They’ll be joined by their Chinese-market Series 9 predecessors, as well as the Neo6, likely because the latter’s freshly launched successor already has Android 13 thanks to what’s likely the latest stable version of the slightly older OriginOS Ocean. .
