WhatsApp is working on some exciting updates to improve its user interface. The Application belonging to the meta is releasing a new camera shortcut for select Android beta testers, WABetaInfo reported. It will notably replace the camera tab.
The feature will be enabled for users who can create a community. When the feature is activated, the camera tab is automatically replaced by the communities tab. WABetaInfo also shared a screenshot of the feature.
The instant messaging app has enabled the camera shortcut next to the search button. However, users can still see the camera tab. “In fact, this feature was probably enabled by mistake because it was only meant to be enabled for users who have the ability to create a community. For this reason, we should expect a bug fix update that will resolve the problem soon,” the website wrote.

The feature is only enabled for certain beta users. The update will be rolling out to more users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is also working on an update to allow users to use their own chat on linked devices. Previously, WhatsApp users sent messages to each other by opening the chat with their own phone number to save important notes. However, the feature was no longer available when using multiple devices. Notably, chat with user phone numbers only appears on the primary device. The feature is under development and its release date is still known.
